Having served as a Community College Trustee, and as a K12 Trustee in California, Ann is acutely aware of the impact these elected offices have on students, facilities and staff. She is ready to serve again to help guarantee that our MiraCosta Community College students receive the life-changing education they deserve.
Ann was once a MiraCosta student, and her four adult children have all attended California Community Colleges.
Ms.Crosbie recognizes the power of being able to start, or continue, your education at a community college.
Our community college students
Without support, student success rates plumet.
As a MiraCosta Community College Trustee, Ann will be there to listen to students, and will make sure that MiraCosta offers the assistance they need to be successful when they enroll and as they continue - what ever that might mean to each individual student.
In 2024, the average tenure in a job is just 5.4 years. Whether it is due to obsolescence, or an individual's desire to move in to a new field, MiraCosta Community College has a role to play in being responsive to our student's aspirations, and our communities needs. Ms.Crosbie wants to be sure that we continue to offer the courses and pathways that will help our students be successful as they continue their educational journey into 21st Century fields of exploration. Ann Crosbie wants to be sure that MiraCosta is a leader in growing our workforce in employment where they can thrive.
Like you, the college faces a cost of living increase each year and our resources must stretch farther, or cuts have to be made. Planning for cuts is never fun but are sometimes necessary. While serving as a trustee, Ann was able to help recognize the impact of potential cuts, and mitigate their impact through planning.
MiraCosta Community College has been lucky to have community support, but with the end of our current facility bond, the college is reviewing their current facility needs. Ann is a strong proponent for forward planning, which will keep the college from having to make expensive last minute compromises.
As an education advocate for 30+ years, Ann is ready to speak to the community, (and to speak with our legislators in Sacramento or Washington DC, if necessary) about the needs of the college. Communication and messaging are key. Ms.Crosbie's background in education advocacy will be an asset to the leadership team at MiraCosta.
